Ken Oen has worked with Gilsanz Murray Steficek since 1998. Some of his projects include an expansion of a private high school in Connecticut, the residential conversion of an iconic landmarked office tower, a unique gallery experience for a luxury automobile manufacturer, retail renovations on Fifth Avenue in the plaza district, as well as renovations of a student center at Quinnipiac University and the library in the village of Mamaroneck, NY. At GMS, Ken has also served as the project engineer for over 20 bank renovations and alterations, and he has engineered and inspected replacement columns to make room for a 900 seat auditorium in the 280,000 sf UFT headquarters. One of Ken’s strengths is in the renovation and repurposing of existing structures with demanding schedules and complex communication protocols.
Ken holds a Master of Engineering degree in Structural Engineering from Cornell University and a BS in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University. Ken is a registered Professional Engineer in New York and Connecticut, an AWS Certified Welding Inspector, a member of the Structural Engineers Associate of New York (SEAoNY), and an allied member of AIA Connecticut.
