Intern – Structural Engineer, Façade Engineer/Architect, Technical Architect

GMS is currently seeking engineering and architectural students to intern with us this summer in our structural engineering, façade, and building envelope departments in our New York and New Jersey offices.

Responsibilities: Perform preliminary code analysis and create drawings for clients. Learn how to interact with clients, designing, detailing, and conducting on-site review of work in progress. Learn building codes and perform engineering analysis/design in new and existing buildings. Be involved in and focus on the planning of the project from design development through contract document development, checking for code compliance, and working with consultants/contractors. Participate in exercises for field inspection regarding planning, organizing, directing, and problem-solving in an engineering environment. Be exposed to SAP 2000, SAFE, and Bentley RAM Finite Elements Analysis software, as well as Revit and AutoCAD. Energy Compliance Code analyses.

Requirements: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited University. You have completed junior year or higher of an ABET or NAAB accredited program.

Structural Engineer – Entry to Mid-level

GMS is seeking talented Structural Engineers to join our team in our New Jersey office.

Responsibilities: Work under the direction of Senior Engineers and Project Managers on engineering design, structural analysis, and construction administration for new and existing buildings.

Requirements: BS in Civil/Structural Engineering is required. A Masters’s degree is preferred. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis and Nonlinear Analysis of Structures using SAP2000, ETABs, RAM Structural SAFE software, also AutoCAD, Revit, and parametric analysis software Grasshopper a plus.

Structural Inspector

GMS is seeking structural inspectors to join our team.

Responsibilities: Inspection of structural steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, and structural stability.

Requirements: AWS CWI required. Engineering degree preferred. ASNT certification for UT and MT a plus. ICC and/or ACI certifications are preferred. PE preferred.

Architect/Code Consultant

GMS is seeking an in-house NY State registered architect/code consultant to join our team.

Responsibilities: Prepare DOB filings (file/review Alteration Type II applications and schedule / meet with examiners for approval), review plans and documentation for compliance with standards and NYC BC, work to resolve filing issues, violation search & removal, property search, and administer all filings in DOB NOW. 

Requirements: Knowledge of DOB NOW, NYC Building Codes, and Zoning is essential.  Registration with the Department of Buildings a plus but not mandatory.

Facade Engineer (NY, NY)

Building façade system design and structural analysis w/ knowledge of Finite Element Analysis and Nonlinear Analysis of Structures using RAM Concept/Structural System, ABAQUS, ETABS, Revit, THERM; Wind load calculation in accordance with ASCE7-10; Submittal review and field inspection with experience in various façade system (e.g. curtain/window walls, metal cladding, stone panels, EIFS, brick façade).   MS in Civil Eng. + 1 year expr.  Contact: HR, Gilsanz, Murray, Steficek, LLP. Architectural BIM Consultant (NY, NY)

Develop Building Information Modeling project management plan, implement advanced virtual design strategies with knowledge of architecture, Architectural Technologies; Monitor models for quality/content, quality control for architectural database and coordination between construction disciplines; Research new architectural technology, support interoperability among multiple technological software applications (BIM, 2D/3D logistics/drawings, project models in Revit, Tekla and IFC, interoperability management with Konstru and ETABS), development of architectural geometry by script codes. Technical Architect/Engineer

GMS is seeking technical architects/engineers for our Building Envelope department.

Responsibilities: Positions available in curtain wall design, façade renovation and inspection, historic preservation, LL11 inspections, and roofing/waterproofing.

Requirements: 1-5 years experience. License preferred but not required.

CAD/Revit Coordinator

GMS is seeking CAD/Revit Coordinators to implement the firm’s design standards to create, develop and modify models and drawings, generate and compile construction documents, coordinate with internal and external team members, and provide technical support to ensure project deliverables and deadlines are met.

Responsibilities: Prepare BIM models and CAD drawings from design concepts or mark-ups provided by engineering or project management staff; work under the direction of the CAD manager, Engineers, and other team members as part of a coordinated design team to produce complex geometry; routine design of layouts, detailed drawings, and other construction documents.

Structural Field Engineer

GMS is currently seeking engineers for a blend of field and office work as part of an integrated structural design/inspection team with a focus on the construction phase.

Responsibilities: Work includes structural special inspections, field surveys, construction administration, and structural engineering design for new and existing buildings.

Requirements: Engineering degree required. Previous experience in construction industry preferred. ICC, ACI, and AWS inspection certifications preferred for structural steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, and structural stability. PE preferred.

Executive Assistant

GMS is seeking an Executive Assistant to support the Partners and staff.  We require a dynamic person who can work independently with excellent interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Renew and keep track of PE licenses, certificates, and Professional Development Hours; renew memberships; book travel; process Department of Building forms and drawings; register for seminars and conferences; enter business cards into the master list; submit reimbursements; apply for Professional Engineer licenses; order supplies, publications, and food; and assist with formatting specs, drafting letters/emails

Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a college degree and professional manner to represent the Partners both internally and externally developing client relationships at times. Knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
