GMS held our annual Holiday Party at Mustang Harry’s on December 12th, bringing together current employees and some GMS alumni.  The evening was spent enjoying drinks, food, and each other’s company. Our team celebrated an eventful year at the firm as we began new projects, wrapped up existing ones, and welcomed new staff.

In case you missed it – the 2023 GMS Holiday Card, created by GMS Associate (and AI Hobbyist) Rosemarie Isleib

In 2023, GMS worked on over 700 projects, ranging in scope from minor building alterations to massive redevelopments. Our structural engineering team wrapped up projects including the fit-out of Warner Brothers’ Discovery Headquarters at 200 Park Avenue South, and structural support for the first public art installation on a roadway gantry, located at the entrance to the Holland Tunnel. We also continued work on 50 Ninth, which was awarded a 2023 CIB Roger H. Corbetta Award of Merit for Low-Rise Construction. Our Building Envelope team continued work on the redevelopment of PENN 2, which won several awards this year: a 2023 Future Projects Gold Award; a 2023 Muse Design Award; and a 2023 New York Design Award.

We also had the privilege of adding over 15 full-time staff members to our team in every department – structural engineering, building envelope consulting, drafting, and administration. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with our new team members in the new year. One of our 2023 hires, senior building envelope consultant Isabel Fee, noted that she “appreciate[s] the chance to work with the buildings that make up New York’s history.”

Thank you to our clients and colleagues for a wonderful year, and best wishes to all for a successful 2024!
