Congratulations to several members of our GMS staff who have volunteered and been selected to serve as part of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 7-28 committees!

ASCE 7 Minimum Design Loads For Buildings and Other Structures is updated every six years and the next update will be published in 2028. ASCE 7 defines the loads used in the design of buildings in the United States and it serves as an essential guide for structural engineers around the world for protecting the public. We are proud to announce that fourteen members of our GMS staff will serve on ASCE 7-28 committees:

  • Ramon Gilsanz will serve as a Member of the General Structural Requirements Subcommittee and will also serve as an Associate Member on the Main Committee, the Wind Subcommittee, and the Loads on Temporary Structures Subcommittee.
  • Jessica Mandrick will be a Member of the Flood Load Subcommittee.
  • Eugene Kim will hold Member positions on the Main Committee and the Wind Subcommittee and will serve as an Associate Member on the General Structural Requirements Subcommittee.
  • Sebastian Delgado will serve as an Associate Member of the Seismic Subcommittee.
  • May Thu Nwe Nwe will serve as an Associate Member of the Seismic Subcommittee.
  • Sara McMonagle will serve as the Balloteer on the Seismic Subcommittee.
  • John Hinchcliffe will be an Associate Member of the Loads on Temporary Structures Subcommittee.
  • Isabel Lorenzo will serve as an Associate Member on the Loads on Temporary Structures Subcommittee and as the Balloteer on the Load Combinations Subcommittee.
  • Mark Beltramello will be an Associate Member of the Future Conditions of Environmental Hazards Subcommittee.
  • Adrianna Early will hold Associate Member positions on the Future Conditions of Environmental Hazards Subcommittee and on the Main Committee.
  • Ana Gallego will be a Member of the Future Conditions of Environmental Hazards Subcommittee.
  • Rui Zhang will be an Associate Member of the Dead & Live Loads Subcommittee.
  • Phoebe Wang will hold Member & Historian positions on the Wind Subcommittee.
  • Dan Eschenasy will serve as an Associate Member of the Loads on Temporary Structures and Wind Subcommittees.

Each member of the GMS team will use their knowledge and skills to work with other ASCE members to ensure that the criteria and material published within ASCE 7-28 will be accurate and will set a precedent for the future of building code standards.
