The GMS Team celebrated the summer season with our annual summer party, hosted this year at Arlo NoMad’s rooftop venue. Our full-time staff, interns, and even some GMS alumni gathered after work on August 16th to chat and enjoy a lovely view of the Manhattan skyline.

The event coincided with the last week our summer interns worked with us this year. Some of these students were new to GMS, while others joined us for the second time in their college careers. Our interns in the structural, building envelope, drafting, and marketing departments made wonderful contributions, not only to GMS projects, but to our office environment. We wish them the best of luck in their various fields of study, and hope they choose to join us again next year! See below for farewell quotes from some of our summer 2023 interns.

“Thank you all for having me at GMS for another great summer, I have enjoyed my time in New York once again. I will be returning to the University of Nebraska for my third year of architectural school and look to find my passion in the architecture field.”

Lucas Fleming, Architectural Intern

“I am very grateful for the past few months at GMS. Working with professionals in this environment has been an invaluable experience and I have learned a lot. I will continue to work in structural engineering in the future. The next step for me is to complete my Civil Engineering degree at Cooper Union next year.”

Burhaan Khan, Structural Engineering Intern

“Thank you all for having me at GMS for the past few months. It has been an invaluable experience to be working alongside engineering professionals. I am returning to Stevens Institute of Technology, where I will complete my Civil Engineering degree next spring. I am also enrolled in the accelerated master’s program at Stevens, where I am also studying to receive a master’s degree in Systems Engineering in spring 2025. To everyone that I have been lucky to work with and learn from, thanks again!

Stephen Crocco, Structural Engineering Intern
