Multi-phase modernization of a major teaching hospital included a new 745-bed Mainframe building with ancillary diagnostic and treatment areas, with 22 new operating rooms, 48 radiology and imaging rooms, and 74 intensive care beds over 839,000 square feet; expanded diagnostic and treatment suites for Center for Women and Children; “Energy Court” gallery; 40 foot high retaining wall at basement level, interconnecting bridges and tunnels across adjacent streets; an addition to the service building, and 497,000 square feet of renovated spaces. Engineering for this building was performed prior to founding GMS, while at SOM.
Since that modernization, GMS has provided structural engineering services for more than fifteen renovation/relocation projects within the Columbia/Presbyterian campus.
