GMS provided structural engineering services for the emergency response to assist the Owner with the structural assessment of a failed retaining wall, the forensic services to establish the cause of the collapse and the engineering design for temporary site grading and wall shoring as required to create a structural condition which provided immediate, short-term public safety. Short-term safety included the design of an emergency egress route from the apartment building on the downhill side of the retaining wall. GMS also provided the Owner with a permanent repair for long-term public safety. Since the initial failure in September 2021, twelve GMS personnel have worked on the project. The long-term repairs were completed in spring of 2024.
