Empire State Building

New York, NY

GMS analyzed the full building to assess the structure’s capacity to add antennae and broadcast capability to the existing spire, mast and building structure and provided construction details for members which would need reinforcement. We performed a comprehensive investigation of the façade of this landmark building and prepared documents for the extensive repairs of the limestone portions of the façade.

Starting in 2008, GMS provided structural engineering for the full rehabilitation of several floors as part of an energy retrofit program to reduce materially energy consumption, operating costs and carbon emissions. The project has been certified as LEED Gold.

GMS has designed several other tenant modifications including the design of supports for NBC and WPIX transmitter rooms and antennae.
