GMS is thrilled that Casimir Bognacki, PE, FACI has joined our firm as a Principal! (Some of you met him a few weeks ago when he taught the ACI Grade 1 Concrete Inspector class here in the office.)

Cas was for many years the Chief of Materials Engineering for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey where he managed a staff of engineers and technicians in the development of construction materials specifications, inspecting and testing of these materials during construction. In particular, he developed concrete mix proportions and acceptance criteria for the transportation infrastructure and set the standard in NYC for developing high strength concrete mix proportions.

His notable projects include involvement in the reconstruction of the World Trade Center site, construction of numerous concrete pavements for runways, taxiways and roadways. He established concrete design requirements and inspection criteria for the new Goethals Bridge and for the raising of the Bayonne Bridge deck. Cas also served as chair of the concrete committee in the 2022 and 2014 revisions to the NYC DOB Code.

Cas holds a Master’s and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and is a registered Professional Engineer in New York.
