This ballroom style music venue is located near Union Square. GMS served as the structural engineers for this major renovation. The project involved changing the elevation in the lobby; dropping in a new stair to the basement; creating an opening in the bearing wall that separates the main lobby and the adjacent bar area; removing a bearing wall that subdivides the basement to create an open lounge area; replacing the hardwood floor on the second floor; adding permanent platforms on the house right side of the mezzanine; and relocating mechanical units to the roof.
We also engineered the change in use of the suspended sound mix box in order to repurpose it into a luxury box with public assembly occupancy and we also assessed and repaired the marquee.
