GMS served as structural engineer for the renovation and expansion of the APS Editorial Headquarters. The site is located within the Long Island Pine Barrens Preservation area, so the existing building footprint could not be enlarged. The addition was constructed above the existing building, while the facility remained in operation. Columns were inserted on weekends as needed, but the team designed the structure to span over the existing building. This enabled staff to remain in place, mostly undisturbed.
