Staten Island Zoo Leopard Enclosure

Staten Island, NY

GMS provided structural engineering services for the outdoor Amur Leopard exhibit at the Staten Island Zoo. The leopard enclosure includes a mesh roof supported by cables suspended from five steel, shotcrete-covered “tree” columns and draped over seven perimeter columns. The mesh is tied down at the perimeter to the ground and to a low wall. Standing at three-stories tall and totaling 4,500 square feet, the exhibit is one of the largest outdoor Amur Leopard exhibits in the country.
