Capital One Union Square
853 Broadway
Located at 853 Broadway, this new branch provides financial services and a Peet’s Coffee shop in-house. The project consisted of approximately 6,800 square feet in the cellar, 5,500 square feet at the ground floor and 6,500 square feet on the mezzanine level. GMS provided structural engineering to review the existing floors for the ATM and safe installation, to reinforce the floors and to create a new monumental stair and elevator to connect the three levels.
The project required the removal of a portion of the building’s lateral force resisting system, so column reinforcing was necessary. GMS also assisted with the design of the interior glass barriers and partitions, LED display and the review by the Transit Authority.
