Job Description

GMS is seeking talented Entry-level Structural Engineers for our New York and New Jersey Offices. The applicant should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil or structural engineering and the ability to obtain a PE license. The candidate will work under the direction of GMS Partners and Project Managers in engineering design, structural analysis, and construction administration for new and existing buildings. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis and Nonlinear Analysis of Structures using SAP2000, ETABS, RAM Structural SAFE software, also AutoCAD, Revit, and parametric analysis software Grasshopper are a plus. This position is full-time and will be in-person in the office five days per week.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

Structural Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Design and analyze structural systems for buildings and infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct site inspections to assess project feasibility and conformance with construction documents.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to develop project designs.
  • Prepare detailed structural drawings and reports using software like AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Review construction plans for accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Ensure projects comply with local building codes and regulations.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited engineering program
  • 0-5+ years of experience in structural engineering plus at least one relevant summer internship preferred

Senior Architect and Entry-Level Building Façade Positions

Projects include Building Envelope and Curtain Wall design for private and public agency projects, both new construction and renovation, including detailing all types of exterior building envelope components with an emphasis on inspections/initial evaluations, production drawings, and Energy Code Compliance. The candidate must demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD is a plus.

Facade / Building Envelope Architect / Engineer

Would you like to join an award-winning Building Envelope team? GMS is one of the leading building envelope consultancy companies in New York City. We assist architects with façade-related technical systems, helping them turn their designs into real physical construction elements. Our daily tasks include:

  • Reviewing drawings for design intent and constructability for all façade/envelope elements.
  • Developing detailed façade drawings for architects during the Design Development and Construction phases.
  • Preparing detailed reports about site conditions and construction progress for clients, architects, and contractors.
  • Performing factory inspections of architectural precast, windows, and curtain walls at manufacturing facilities across North America, Europe, Asia, or wherever our projects may take us!

Job Description

GMS is seeking talented BIM Coordinator for our New York and New Jersey Offices.Having basic to intermediate knowledge of 3D building modeling and 2D AutoCAD, the CAD/Revit Coordinator will implement the firm’s design standards to create, develop and modify models and drawings; generate and compile construction documents; coordinate with internal and external team members; and provide technical support to ensure project deliverables and deadlines are met.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Prepare BIM models and CAD drawings from design concepts or mark-ups provided by engineering or project management staff.
  • Work under the direction of the CAD manager, Engineers, and other team members as part of a coordinated design team to produce complex geometry, routine design layouts, detailed drawings, and other construction documents.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Structural or Architectural Technology and 1-3 years (educational/professional) experience, or AAS in Computer Integrated Technology with 1+ years of experience with an engineering design firm.
  • Ability to read and interpret floor plans, cut sections and elevations and create schedules.
  • The position requires knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Knowledge of Dynamo and Python is desirable, but not required.
  • Ability to create/customize Revit families.
  • Ability to integrate design elements with architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and other disciplines.
  • Verbal/written communication skills are a must.
  • The candidate must be able to multi-task between projects and be able to work well under pressure.
  • Some knowledge of graphic standards is required.

 

Compensation
