Worldwide Plaza

GMS has provided structural engineering services for numerous tenants at Worldwide Plaza since 1999, including the 74,000 square-foot fitout for the WNET NY Headquarters, a 900,000 square-foot phased build-out and infrastructure upgrade for a Japanese financial institution, and a major restacking program of law offices over 10 floors. Interior fitouts have accommodated new general office space, trading floors, conference rooms, and amenity spaces such as a fitness center, kitchens and cafeterias. Infrastructure upgrades provided new dedicated MEP equipment for mission critical systems including new cooling tower, chillers, chiller plant, emergency generators and battery rooms. Modifications to structural systems have involved the installation of web penetrations in existing beams, reinforcing to support multiple high-density filing systems, support of window-washing equipment, infills of existing floor openings and framing to create new floor openings. Design work also included architectural elements such as monumental stairs and occupiable terraces.
