Emblem in Za’abeel Park Competition

In 2009, GMS engineered several entries for a tall emblem structure in Za’abeel Park in Dubai. This competition aimed to foster creative, yet pragmatic new visions for developing a tall structure and was held in collaboration with Dubai Municipality. In this design, beneath the double-layered photovoltaic skin lies an intense spider net of steel, all formed in a U-shape around a solid concrete tower core. The core structure is connected to the undulating white exterior membrane using a series of 4-point spider connectors evenly distributed throughout the structure.
