Niketown Soccer Ball
New York, New York

GMS provided structural engineering services in collaboration with Miller Consulting Engineers for a 12 ft diameter, illuminated soccer ball suspended inside the Niketown, NYC store. The soccer ball was constructed using a cut-out aluminum framework which supported lines of LED lights.  GMS created a 3-D Rhino model of this framework and imported it into structural analysis software to verify its capacity.  In addition, we confirmed the capacity of the connections between the various components and the existing building framing.
