August 12, 2013 SEAoNY 2013-2014 Board of Directors Announcement
The Partners of GMS are happy to announce that Eugene Kim, PE, Associate has been
elected to the Board of Directors of SEAoNY, the Structural Engineers Association
of New York. Jonathan Hernandez, PE, Partner is continuing his term on the Board.
SEAoNY’s purpose is to advance the art of structural engineering in New York by
improving the flow of ideas and building the community of colleagues. GMS personnel
have been involved since SEAoNY’s founding in 1998.
Eugene’s projects range from the interior renovation of the 40 story Bertelsmann
Building in New York to the new Herb Alpert Educational Village, a non-profit college
preparatory school in Santa Monica, CA. Eugene joined GMS right out of Columbia
in 2005 and when he is not busy engineering, he serves as the company’s team captain
for CANstruction, an annual event to fight hunger.
Jonathan joined GMS in 2000 after 18 years of working as a structural engineer in
the Philippines. He is currently the lead engineer responsible for hundreds of new
LEED™ certified PNC Bank branches located across the US. Other projects include the
rehabilitation of historic firehouses, the infrastructure upgrade of JP Morgan Chase
headquarters, and the construction of a tomotherapy suite fitted with lead walls.
