Through the years, he helped a vast number of students at either the School of Industrial
Engineering of the University of Seville or the School of Industrial Engineering
of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, some of which formed the Organizing Committee
of these acts. Attendees, including Professors and professionals coming from Spain,
Portugal, France, Greece, Italy, Switzerland and the USA, gave presentations on the
topic "Issues on Computational Mechanics and Civil Engineering", which were published
as a book in Professor Alarcón's honor. Ramon Gilsanz presented a paper about “The
need of expansion joints in residential flat plate structures in New York City” authored
in collaboration with Jennifer Lan. Later that day, family, friends and colleagues
gather together to attend a friendship dinner as a conclusion of the Honoring Meeting.
