GMS serves on Managing and Structural Committees for the
New York City Construction Codes

Every three years, the New York City Construction Codes must be updated based upon the latest version of the International Code Council Codes (I-Codes). To this end, the Department has organized a series of committees (Technical, Managing & Advisory) to review the technical and administrative provisions of the Codes. Nine Technical committees are responsible for developing and reviewing technical amendments made to specific chapters of the New York City Construction Codes.  Technical committee participants are “experts” in the subject matter of their respective committee. The Managing committee is responsible for reviewing and accepting technical committee and advisory committee proposals regarding the technical and administrative provisions of the Codes. Advisory committees will be formed on an as needed basis to consider issues that fall outside of the normal review of a technical committee. After the Managing committee has finished its review, the NYC Law Department will format the revisions into bill format required for passage by the City Council.
